For a bit of interest which if any of the knowledgebases do you or your institution routinely use? If you use another, can you name them below?

Maybe incorrectly, but I've included BDZ as 'Other' knowledgebase

We use TalisBase in general, though not really for e-book records.

Hello everyone,

As Capita users we have access to BASE for now, although we only use vendor supplied records for ebooks, but will probably use Alma's CZ & EBC when we go 'live' in a few months.

We were a Capita Alto customer, using BASE, until summer 2019. We moved to SirsiDynix Symphony at that point, and have been using supplier-provided records (primarily ProQuest, Askews) since then.

Just to add, we have it in mind to jump onboard with NBK but have not moved forward with that yet because... "events"... so I'm interested to know more and to hear about people's experiences with NBK.

At University of Notingham we use Alma CZ. I’ve found that what you lose in individual record quality you gain in collection coverage …

At Derby we primarily use Base from Capita.  Ebook records come mostly from suppliers with a few of my own when there is no other record available.

We use EBSCO for subscribed e-books, and for outright purchases we use EBSCO and we add a vendor-supplied MARC record to Symphony (belt and braces!)

It’s good to see the NBK leading the poll here. For the time being we’re not contributing our small number of enhanced records back to the Alma CZ. I favour contributing them to the NBK cataloguing hub instead. At some point in the future I think we’re going to have to choose which one to support. Alma CZ or NBK?

We do something similar Jenny. We add records to Sirsi, mostly from OCLC but some from vendors, like Browns or Proquest.

Hi Nick,

I take it UoN is University of Nottingham?  As we are UoN too - University of Northampton :)

Uploading to NBK is something I would like to look into, but some of out records are quite basic. I'm not sure they would be up to scratch, do you know what standard is expected?

We use TalisBase and records come from suppliers.  We copy and update a lot of ebook records from the print records.
